Geography

Precisely what is Geography Week 2 Geographic Thought and History I’ve always thought that all geography was your study of land, how it was shaped and where it will be in years to come. I use realized that there is more to geography than this. A literal translation of geography would be “to describe or write about the Earth” (“What is Location: 2012).

The first person to use the word “geography” was Eratosthenes, who had been an ancient Ancient greek. Geography have been called “the world discipline” and “the bridge between your human and the physical science”(Sullivan 2000).

There exists human geography, physical location, Marxist location and also feminist geography. Human geography is known as a branch of the social sciences that research the world, its people, neighborhoods, and ethnicities and has an emphasis on contact of space and place. Human geography may differ from physical geography largely in that very low greater focus on studying human activities and is also more available to qualitative research methodologies (“What is Location ” 2012).

Physical geography is that part of natural scientific research which deals with the study of techniques and habits in the environment like heatmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere, rather than the cultural or built environment, the domain of human geography (“What is Location ” 2012). This is the location that most persons think of. There is also is a type of critical geography that uses the theories and philosophy of Marxism to examine the spatial relations of human geography.

In Marxist location, the relationships that geography has traditionally analyze such as natural environment and spatial relations are reviewed as outcomes of the mode of material creation (“What is usually Geography inch 2012).?nternet site mentioned previously there is also feminist geography which can be an approach in human geography which applies the ideas, methods and critiques of feminism to the study of a persons environment, world and geographical space (What is Geography” 2012).

What I find many interesting is the discipline of cartography, which is the umschlsselung of the world. I actually find it interesting on how they could design a map in the ancient era and actually use it pertaining to exploration. Roadmaps started out while two dimensional charts as to what we work with now, Yahoo earth. Back in the 20th century, advances in electronic technology have led to further innovation in cartography.

Specifically computer devices including computer screens, plotters, machines, scanners (remote and document) and a fortiori stereo plotters along with visualization, photo processing, spatial analysis and database software program, have democratized and greatly expanded the making of maps, particularly with their capability to produce roadmaps that present slightly different features, without decoration a new creating plate (Sullivan 2000).

Websites such as Google Earth employ Google Earth which is just based on THREE DIMENSIONAL maps, while using capability to present 3D properties and set ups (such as bridges), which in turn consist of users’ submissions using SketchUp, a 3D modeling program software. The technology that is used is incredible even towards the point the particular types of features are being used in the armed forces to pinpoint certain targets. Works Cited
