Approach

100 surveys handed out the following: 25 to non-psych majors (female scenario); 25 to non-psych premier (male scenario); 25 psychology majors (female scenario); twenty-five psych dominant (male scenario). The 3rd party variable investigated is sexuality; other independent variables include non-psych and psych majors. The dependent variable investigated is despression symptoms level. Additional dependent factors worthy of search may include self-pride, anxiety or perceived panic and the living or not enough social fears. This approach allows a qualitative analysis with the empirical info presented for much more accurate effects (Keppel, 1982; Reber, 1985).

Findings

The results with the study advise as include previous research (Maag, Behrens Digangi, 1992; Miletich, 1995) that there is a stigma linked to depression. The preliminary benefits of this research suggest amongst non-educated buyers, men are more inclined to be stigmatized and subsequently repress their feelings than are females diagnosed with despression symptoms.
