History and selection
Manatee Community College has established itself as a top college in the community, and from the inception shows a determination to variety in its college student body. MCC is an accredited, public two-year college offering residents of Florida’s Manatee and California counties. The faculty was established in 1957 by the State Plank of Education as the first public institution better learning in Manatee and Sarasota areas. The initial classes were hosted in 1958 in a former senior high school with 500 students enrolled. In 1959, MCC held classes with the current Bradenton location, a 100-acre grounds near Sarasota Bay. The faculty Board of Trustees proven a center in Venice in 1977 in addition to 1985 committed the current 100-acre campus located between Venice, North Dock and Englewood. The Center pertaining to Innovation and Technology opened at Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, in January 2003.
