Research from Dissertation:
Through this experience, I realized that these heroes could help additional to understand themselves and to resolve the internal issues that travel young men in their activities. As I began to study the characters in the novel more closely, I began to realize that Valjean and Javert are not the only character types that displayed Jungian archetypes. It became apparent that increasing a better knowledge of the character types and the archetypes that they showed could give valuable indications to the psychotherapist who must work with youthful males where were at this point going through lots of the same difficulties that I skilled at that sensitive age. The archetypes present in the book are prominent and essential for the development of a wholesome, individuated men (James and Gillaland, n. d. l. 13).
Studying Les Miserables changed my life. I saw a large number of parallels together with the character if Jean Valjean. I was mistreated by my dad and, just like Valjean, was treated such as a criminal at school. Fantine symbolized my emotional state at the time, which is the wounded, neglected anima of a man. My personal high school instructor, Mr. Fort was supporting of myself and would not treat myself as a deny. His support was absolute, wholehearted and he came to stand for the clergyman and the compassion that this individual demonstrated to Valjean.
Just after a spiritual initiation by a female deep breathing master was I capable to master my own anger and depression, showed by Cosette for Valjean. For me, Marius and Cosette represents the archetype of the marriage with the masculine plus the feminine. Throughout my use young men in therapy, these archetypes presented themselves. This analysis will explore how these archetypes can e employed by therapists to get insight into the psyche of their male individuals so that they can gain the information that they need to turn into individuated youngsters.
