Mae Jemison: Space Star
Maybe you have ever thought of flying readily through space, surrounded by a sea of stars? Mae Jemison achieved that desire.
On September 12, 1992, aboard the spaceship Endeavour, she became the 1st African-American female to blast into outer space. This kind of wasn’t the only time, nevertheless , that Jemison had reached for the celebs and realized her dreams.
Jemison was developed on October 17, 1956, in Decatur, Alabama, but the girl grew up in Chicago, Illinois.
There were not many popular African-American female role models while Jemison was growing up, but the girl didn’t allow that prevent her from achieving her goals. She was specifically interested in anthropology, archaeology and astronomy. Fortunately, her father and mother encouraged individuals interests. That encouragement went her to excel. She graduated from secondary school at 16. After that she earned degrees in chemical engineering and African-American research at Stanford University. Later, the girl graduated coming from Cornell University’s medical college. No challenge was too just the thing for Jemison to take on.
Jemison’s accomplishments did not end there. In 1981, she joined NASA’s space program in Houston, Texas. And in 1988, Jemison realized her biggest dream. She finally became an astronaut! Just several years after, she was named scientific research mission specialist (another NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION (NASA) first) on an Endeavour flight.
Today, Jemison encourages young people — especially ladies and girls — to study the savoir. Her existence example teaches us to follow each of our dreams, no matter how great.
