Timothy’s individuality is under control by his father which is shown through his actions and words. Normally the one sided romantic relationship between Timothy and George can be proven through the actions of the characters. When George gives Timothy the bat and expects him to become a crickinfo player really almost like he could be caging a bird, Timothy doesn’t really want to play crickinfo but there isn’t much he can do.

He trades his crickinfo bat for the violin and it is like he can free from his cage. Once hisfather finds out about this he can furious and in many cases smashes the violin “With a swift downward motion George created the violin across his knee. ” The smashing of the violin is like Timothy getting his wings trimmed and he can stuck in his cage permanently. “He threw the ball back to his father and prepared himself for lifetime of playing a straight softball bat on a pitch” After having his violin broken simply by his dad Timothy has given up and prepares to learn cricket exactly like his daddy. In this father son romantic relationship George is simply just pushing Timothy to have just like him and this is shown by actions of the two. In summary the George is seen as reducing Timothy’s freedom to do what he really wants to do, this is certainly illustrated by the words and actions from the characters. At times parents expect too much from other children this means you will damage the partnership between them.
