” Both of these statements are very arguably accurate, yet both also smack of the immature self-assuredness that belies the innocence with the speaker, and it is this aspect of the girl – her very pretensions to adulthood that, in effect, provide her a more honest mature than most real adults – which the narrator of the story appears to find the most interesting and appealing. Since the girl is merely beginning to peek the lack of purity that accompanies growing up, and definitely seems to be enjoying it, the narrator is able to travel and leisure the change course and rediscover an innocence believed lost.
This rediscovery takes place in a far more direct method at the end with the story, if the narration has switched mostly to a third person, till Sergeant X – that is obviously embittered, somewhat shattered, and generally disconnected from his life – receives a letter type Esme. The note rekindles a sense of reference to the leading part, breaking throughout the isolation that is certainly building over the latter half of the story and reestablishing a lot of hope in humanity with this main figure. Franny and Zooey

Finally, Zooey telephone calls his sibling from another line and pretends to become their various other brother, Buddy. It is only through this item of falsehood that Zooey is able to honestly notify Franny what she must hear – that she should simply be herself, everyone else be damned, as long as your woman encountered and treated these respect. This is certainly fairly basic, but this is the essence of sincerity; real human feeling is not complicated until it is made so by the manufactured and superficial concerns with the adult head. In this history, Salinger points to the beginning of the finish for childlike innocence and honesty on the part of these two heroes, who not necessarily capable on this honesty and sincerity within a face-to-face conversation anymore. Although story ends on a positive note, with Franny sense satisfied and falling asleep, there is really only a slim desire that either Franny or perhaps Zooey should be able to retain whatsoever innocence and purity they may have left for much longer.
Realization
J. D. Salinger, like most veterans, learned a lot about himself regarding the world during his time in military service.
