The lady died in 1870 giving her friends and family distraught. George was educated in Rochester public schools but lowered out at age fourteen to work that help his mother. His 1st job, as being a messenger son with a great insurance firm, paid out $3 per week.

A year later, he became an office boy for another insurance firm. He rapidly took charge of coverage filing and even wrote procedures. His pay out increased to $5 weekly. But , despite that maximize, his salary was not enough to meet friends and family expenses. He studied accounting at home to have a better having to pay job. He soon chose to take up the real estate through 1877 he previously saved enough money for taking the first step. During those times, Hispaniola, found in the Caribbean, was undergoing a boom in property. Eastman decided to go there and investigate intended for himself. To document his visit, he bought a camera.

Even though he by no means made the journey, this individual became completely engrossed in photography. In the 1870s American photography was still being slow, challenging, and pricey. Equipment included a huge camera, strong tripod, large platter holder, darker tent, chemical compounds, water container, and large glass dishes. At the time, pictures was still a reasonably recent advancement, and taking pictures was not easy. Photographers was required to cover a glass slides which has a solution of silver and also other chemicals, even more chemicals were used to develop the image. This kind of work needed to be done in the dark, thus photographers taking pictures outdoors were required to bring along outdoor tents.
