Drama evaluation essay

Our school were asked to create a piece on Holly Vth. We all worked in three individual groups to make a non-naturalistic part. Once everyone had performed we were then asked to judge a group of the choice, however, not your personal, I chose Jasmines group. With this evaluation I am talking about, the things i liked and disliked regarding the group I chose, might be altered, what was the highlight and also other detailed research. I select Jasmines group because their particular performance found my attention. Their piece was very well rehearsed, and you could notify how much effort had gone in to making it.

I actually felt the highlight in the piece as well as the part Let me remember most was the end scenes. That came over to me since two scenes combined as one. The first scene had dead body sprawled throughout the battlefield plus the second landscape had a girl slowly strolling through the poppy fields. Poppies symbolising the countless people, who have lost all their lives in the war, I came across this retained my interest because it was an mental scene that you might relate to. The little girl was singing engagement ring a ring a roses in a mysterious dead-like voice.

Both scenes then simply merged back into one, which will left an excellent ending together with the freeze frame of dead bodies, this was effective because it made you feel the true associated with the conflict. This is another scene that striked myself most regarding the play with all the good ideas interpreted from this scene and others to make a general good functionality. The concept of the piece was reminiscence, it emerged over because all the emotions both family and soldiers went through before, during and after the war.

The performance was overall very good and i also would only make minimal changes to increase the piece. In certain scenes that they needed to job their sounds as at times the music was louder than they were, for example , when every person moved in sequence towards the dead man remains from the marching scene, I do believe the words would have to be heard because of the strong which means. Another area of the piece that couldve been improved upon was face expressions. They will tended to place all the feeling into their noises and not in their faces. For example , when every person moved in sequence and was saying the strong words they all couldve, to make that more believable, use facial expression to relate to their particular words.

The piece stored my interest throughout, they will included deep freeze frames and non-naturalistic moments of the life long the part. There was one particular freeze shape in their efficiency that was very highly effective. There were three separate freeze out frames. In the middle of the level there was a couple forming a strong barrier. On the left hand side there was one person on their own reaching out and shielding his deal with, the opposite part was several levels, crying and moping into hands, shielding encounters and hunched over, exhibiting a hurry of feelings. This was not simply showing feelings from soldiers but likewise from family members. In this freeze out frame this will depend on where youre sitting to interpret a different that means. This is among five views that was standing out to myself.

One field that likewise stood out for me was your second landscape. They were seated in a triangular shape in the centre of the level, a scatter of levels all creating different freeze out frames, in succession, one after another, continually with a line from the perform. This was good to me mainly because they didnt go out of character, they were bleary time with all the music and they made contact with the audience which in turn made us involved. One other scene that caught my eye was the marching picture, the music in the background went with what they were carrying out, all their confronts concentrated and they came across being a strong brand of soldiers, they will in turn explained a word.

Completely got the final soldier and she proceeded to go forward and repeated similar words twice, this produced an atmosphere which then bring about a final shout which ended the picture on a large because it was unexpected. I especially loved this because they started out the landscape off with strong military and closer to to after that end from the scene that shows all their emotions. This kind of shows how time had changed via being thus strong and assured at the beginning of the war, to breaking down closer to the end of the war. I found this very interesting and could see a whole lot off effort had gone into this part, to make a straightforward scene imply so much.

All their performance included a lot of non-naturalistic physical theatre, for most of the views they included slow motion, replicate, tone, and levels. They included slow-motion in one landscape at the end, inside the little girls tone of voice whilst travelling the dead bodies, this kind of kept my own attention as it was mystical and the strengthen of her voice was quite scary. The way the group interpreted the physical theater into their piece was very good, they added things in at the right moments, nevertheless some couldve been superior on as Ive said before. I discovered this likewise kept my personal attention.
