Catcher in the rye immaturity of holden caufield

In J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher may be the Rye, the protagonist Holden Caufield emerges from a trying and emotional number of events and grow emotionally but remains as premature as he i visited the beginning of the novel. The story is about the difficulties of growing up. Most people come out of all their teenager years as more responsible and mature people. Holden experiences many nerve-racking events during the weekend, although instead of released more mature and grown up, he still has similar childish views on life; he can violent minded, depressed, baffled, and irresponsible.

Throughout the whole novel, Holden fantasizes regarding killing people, he is baffled by sexual, and he does not think out his actions.

Throughout the beginning of the story, Holden thinks about killing people many times. He wanted to destroy Stradlater, his roommate, intended for dating Jane Gallagher, his old good friend. Holden realized what kind of guy Stradlater was and he was scared he took advantage of Jane.

Holden actually does fight Stradlater but gets hurt quite badly. He then puts his hunting hat on and says it is a “people shooting loath. Later on inside the story, Holden again considers killing people.

When Maurice, the pimp, hurts Holden and steals his money, Holden pretends that he previously been shot in the abdomen and his courage were receding. He then pretends that he can staggering over the stairs which has a gun to shoot Maurice and acquire revenge. Holden does not actually do this, but it really shows how he is premature and chaotic. Also, whilst Holden is usually visiting Phoebe’s school, this individual sees that someone features written “fuck on the wall structure. He becomes very upset and wants the bash the skull of whomever did that within the marble floor so all of them are bloody. Once again we see that Holden provides much anger in him. He will not know how to cope with it which shows this individual has not matured.

Holden as well does not at any time figure out his views on sexual intercourse. At the beginning this individual hates Stradlater because he makes use of girls. He says has never done anything to a female because he often stops after they say “stop. Holden says that he’d have to appreciate the girl’s face and really get to know anybody before this individual could have sexual with all of them. When Holden gets to Ny he cell phone calls Faith Cavendish, who this individual thinks is a stripper. This individual does not even know her but he wants to have sex with her.

This moves against every thing he stated before. When Holden grows to the hotel Maurice offers Holden a hooker and he accepts. Holden after that does not whatever it takes with her because he can be nervous and it does not seem to be right to him. Once again Holden is uncertain of sex. This can be a foreign point to him and he never statistics it out. This individual has values that he sets for himself nevertheless he by no means follows through. He possibly tries to request Carl Barlume, an old friend, about love-making but Carl is uneasy talking about that and Holden learns nothing at all new. Holden never learns how to control his emotions and activities about appreciate and sex.

Lastly, Holden does not figure out how to think away his actions. In the beginning, Holden makes quite a few wrong decisions. He runs away from Pencey without even telling his father and mother he was started out. That was a bad decision because when his parents will have found out he’d have been in much more trouble for not telling all of them. Holden also constantly is situated to people through the book, which usually shows his immaturity. Later on in the book Holden makes a few really poor spur in the moment alternatives too. This individual scares Sally Hayes, a girl he continues a date with, by showing her that they should get wedded and move up north and live in a cabin. This individual urges her to do it as well as raises his voice. Sally cries and says he is crazy. This kind of shows how Holden will not think out his actions, which in turn is painful himself while others.

He as well spends cash without thinking. Holden spends money on cabs, hotel rooms, food, dates, plus the nuns. He does not think about managing his money and after that he is required to take his sister Phoebe’s Christmas money. This hurts himself as they does not want to take Phoebe’s cash and it also hurts her since she would not have money to buy people presents. Holden’s lack of thinking hurts himself and others. Finally, Holden strategies to run away to the west and get away from everyone. He would did it although Phoebe ceases him. Working away may have been seriously dumb as they didn’t possess much funds or anywhere to go. Holden never discovers to think away his activities and this shows that he does not grow up.

In M. D. Salinger’s The Baseball catchers is the Rye, the protagonist Holden Caufield emerges coming from a trying and emotional series of events and does not develop emotionally yet remains because immature when he was at the beginning of the story. Holden contains a violent mind and this individual thinks about eliminating people over the novel. He also under no circumstances figures out his views on love-making. He thinks he is aware of his thoughts about sex and what he’d do put in certain scenarios, but this individual does not follow through with his values. Holden as well never learns how to think out his decisions. He makes many selections without placing much thought in to them and this hurts himself as well as other folks. Holden Caufield did not finish that weekend as a older person.
