ome probably the most influential figures in African American history. As a young man and a slave in Maryland, Frederick Douglass was recognized as a bright young man by the two blacks and whites. During his life as a slave in Baltimore he discovered to read and write and passed his knowledge along to various other blacks in Baltimore.
Douglass can be remembered as a great audio. His speaking abilities were developed in the secret discussing club named the East Baltimore Mental Improvement World. He steered clear of from captivity to Fresh Bedford, Massachusetts in 1838. There he discovered the newspaper in the leading white colored abolitionist Bill Lloyd Garrison, The Liberator.
Douglass and Garrison soon impressed one another and would work collectively for sociable reform and the abolition of slavery. As a result of his speaking ability, Douglass soon started to be the major sketching card by meetings in the abolitionist society.
