The North also wanted a good banking and currency system and federal financial assistance for delivery and interior improvements. The South felt these were discriminatory and that they favorite Northern business interests.

Today the main reason pertaining to the Souths secession was your Slavery issue. Basically the To the south wanted and needed this and the North did not need it at all. The South would definitely do anything that they could to continue to keep it. This was the situation that overshadowed all others. At this time the work force in the To the south had about 4 mil slaves. These types of slaves were very useful to the slaveholding planter category. They were an enormous investment to Southerners and if taken away, may mean substantial losses to everyone. The Civil War

In writing the North was much stronger than the South. Completely two and a

half times as many people, and it held far more delivers, miles of

railroad, and manufacturing corporations. Southerners, however , had the

advantage of fighting on house ground with better armed forces leadership. Yet

Union brilliance in manpower was not so excellent as the gross statistics suggest.

Five hundred thousand people existing from Dakota to A bunch of states, could make zero

substantial contribution to Union strength. Every year Union regiments

had been sent to the West to fight Indians. Hundreds of thousands of Americans

in dedicated border declares and in southern Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois worked

or fought pertaining to southern freedom. Though, every single state supplied men intended for

the other side, there was clearly little question that more Federals than Confederates

crossed over.

The To the south had remarkable officer workers. For 20 years before

Lincolns inauguration, the southern area of officers experienced dominated the U. T. Army.

Another way to obtain southern assurance was silk cotton. Secession commanders

expected to exchange that software program for the other manufactured items they

needed.

The Souths most important edge was that it had only to guard

relatively brief interior lines against invaders who had to deal with long

lines of communication and to attack a broad front side. The Confederacy also

experienced no need to reflect fighting males to jobs such as garrisoning captured

urban centers and having conquered place.

In a brief war, numerical superiority probably would not have made much of a

difference. Since the war continued, however , numerical durability became a

psychological as well as a physical tool. During the shutting years of the

conflict, Union armies, massed at last against critical strongholds

suffered horrible casualties yet seemed to grow stronger jointly defeat.

Any staggering Confederate losses sapped the southern will to fight. Every single

material benefit of the North was magnified by the reality the Civil

War survived years instead of months. Funds and credit rating, food production

transport, industrial facilities, clothing (boots)it took time to redirect the

economy for the requirements of war, especially because these requirements

just like the length of the battle, were under estimated.
