The Historical past Public Collection is part of the Maryville State Public Collection System, a 12-branch system with headquarters in Maryville, Alabama. The Heritage Public Library will serve the city of Clarke plus the surrounding part of about 40, 000 citizens.   • Develops and implements coding for children and young adults which includes after-school courses, summer studying clubs, childrens story period, and other special events
  • Establishes and maintains a powerful working relationship with the area’s school librarians
  • Promotes kids and small adult catalogue programs and services to the community
  • Gives training for collection patrons and staff
  • Provides friendly, courteous assist with all clients with data regarding the use of library elements, services, and equipment
  • Attends professional selection conferences, professional development, and reads professional literature
  • Attends and participates in library staff group meetings and discussion posts with relevant ideas
  • Additional duties since assigned

Organizational Status:

The person inside the position of Children and Youth Services Librarian reports to the Assistant Part Manager which is under the general supervision from the Branch Manager. This person is in charge of working with the Branch supervision staff to ensure quality coding and service in the Kids and Junior Services Section. The person inside the position of Children and Youngsters Services Librarian may watch over clerical and part-time staff as well as volunteers.

Education and Experience:

Masters Level in Selection Science from an ALA accredited university. Three years of professional experience with children and young adults in a library environment. Three years of supervisory experience in a library environment.
