Leadership
Almost all upperclassmen are placed into one of the two Leadership classes. Students can request a certain leadership class, but only if their scheduling permits, as well as if there is enough room in that particular leadership. Leadership tends to be a year-round class (two semesters). Leadership qualifies as an elective for high school credits, and is listed under "Coursework other than A-G classes" for UC's.
Leadership A:
Event Planning
Leadership A's events are events focused on school spirit, fundraising, and the majority of schoolwide events. Previous events in the past include dances, spirit weeks, and a host of nighttime events, like Awards Night. Unlike Leadership B, however, Leadership A is held during first period, as opposed to seventh period.
Leadership B:
Peer Tutoring
Peer tutoring is a fundamental part of Leadership B. About ten upperclassmen work to help underclassmen (primarily) in their ASTI coursework. All subjects are covered, and most college courses are covered as well. Tutoring is held Monday-Thursday afterschool, from 3-4:15, in the computer lab or in Ms. McCoy's room (for math and physics).
Event Planning
Leadership B also partakes in event planning, though these events are very different from Leadership A. They focus more on college preparation and readiness, but they still have fun qualities about them. Examples include informational presentations about what colleges look for in applicants or the benefits of a college education. Events can also include integration of the family program or events similar to the ones in Leadership A.
